On Wednesday evening, the Annual Charity Boxing Dinner brought in an impressive £200,000 towards the Paskin Children’s Trust and Norwood's life changing services for children and families.
430 guests attended the high profile event and Simon Mann Chair of the Boxing Dinner committee said: “This evening is about having a fun night watching some great boxing – and most importantly supporting those less fortunate who are helped through the work done by Norwood and the Paskin Children’s Trust”.
Media sponsors Ham & High, The Resident and London24 generously sponsored the celebrity filled night. Our guests saw brilliant performances by Moni Tivony from the Voice and Steve Brookstein, winner of the first X factor. Special guests included Colin Mcmillan, British Featherweight title holder; Pat Sharp, Radio and Television Presenter and DJ; Big Mark Wright Senior, Carol Wright, plus Nanny Pat from The Only Way is Essex; Jeff Brazier, TV Presenter and reality TV star; Spencer Oliver, Former European super Bantam Weight Champion; Josh Wright, Millwall Footballer; HRH The Crown Prince Shwebomin of Burma.
Gerry Willmott MBE and founder of Haringey Community Boxing Club in Tottenham was presented with the Henry Cooper award for his services to women’s boxing by Heavy weight boxer Dereck Chisora. Gerry was instrumental in developing the talents of Nicola Adams and giving her international experience, well before she became the first woman to win an Olympic boxing medal. She was Gold Medal winner at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The main event saw three bouts of boxing, with the final fight featuring Michael Maguire, the naturally gifted former Number One World Amateur boxer who took the next step in his excellent professional career to take down Csaba Kovacs the dangerous and unbeaten power puncher from Budapest.
The PCT donated £4000 to the Run Rio Run fundraising campaign. Set up to provide Rio with new lightweight prosthetic running blades throughout his childhood.
Phyzzpod is an innovative sensory learning experience for schools and hospices. In partnership with KidsOut, the Paskin Children's Trust is providing 3 sensory rooms per year to special schools, particularly those specialising in autism, and hospices.
